Laptops and Blackberries are rapidly becoming poolside accessories and one in seven Britons confess to using them to keep in touch with their office while on holiday . However, American Express Insurance Services revealed that 67 per cent of people who use portable technology feel it to be more of an inconvenience than a help.
Chris Rolland, Head of American Express Insurance Services commented: "The fact that workers are able to carry their emails and work around with them even when they're not in the office means that mobile technology is not necessarily saving time but in some cases it is extending the workload."
Mr Rolland urged Brits going on holiday to check their insurance policies to ensure that their poolside gadgets were covered up to the maximum price, just in case they were ruined. He added that the firm provided special cover for business travellers which as well as protecting laptops and equipment, would cover the costs of a colleague if they were required to stand in at important functions or events.
