Totally Insured Travel has launched the first travel insurance enhancement that specifically covers terrorism and security .
There will be thousands of people travelling during the summer season who could possibly face security delays. Recent breaches of security at Heathrow Airport, ahead of the Queens opening of the new £4.3b Terminal 5 building, was the second security breach at the airport within 18 days and resulted in flight delays and some cancellations.
On the 19th March 2008, the Prime Minister, unveiled his Security Strategy. Gordon Brown said: "The nature of the threats and the risks we face have, in recent decades, changed beyond recognition and confound all the old assumptions about national defence and international security."
None of the travel insurance policies available currently offer cover for delays incurred because of security or terrorist related incidents. However, holiday makers can now get a product which covers them for such delays from Totally Insured Travel, which is being underwritten by Professional Travel Insurance Company Limited.
