Holiday tips from Tesco Travel Insurance

Thu, 12 Jun 2008

Tesco Travel Insurance have come up with some handy tips to help people avoid some of the common pitfalls of travelling abroad this summer .

The insurer revealed that the top three claims made by its customers last year were for loss of baggage, medical treatment and cancellations.

Tesco says that one way people can ensure that their claim for lost and stolen luggage is honoured is to report it to the relevant authorities straight away. Also, if there is a time delay, travellers are urged to obtain written confirmation from the airline, train or ferry company with details of the reason for and length of delay.

For people who require medical treatment when they are abroad, the insurer suggests that they contact their insurer’s emergency helpline immediately if the problem appears to be serious. For minor health issues, travellers should cover the cost of the bill themselves and keep all the relevant documents so that they can later make a claim.
