Sainsbury's: Customers apply online for life insurance

Mon, 06 Aug 2007

Customers are now applying online for their life insurance policies, Sainsbury's Bank has stated.

Sainsbury's Bank has noted a growing trend of online applications for car insurance, pet insurance and now even life insurance.

Communications manager for Sainsbury's Bank Natasha Virtue explained that the online insurance industry is "highly competitive" and it is encouraging that consumers are using the internet to shop around for the best deals.

"We're actually encouraging people to seek four quotes if possible, because the more you can shop around, the better deal you're likely to get," she remarked.

She adds that consumers are now comfortable with getting online quotes not just for car insurance or pet insurance but now also for life insurance.

Despite the "steady increase" in online purchases, Ms Virtue claims that many consumers are still happy to get a quote over the phone so they can "speak to somebody".

In related news, there are now fears that the flooding this summer may begin to impact on home insurance premiums as Norwich Union has already announced an increase on average of ten per cent.
